The building was originally the Palace of Placentia or Greenwich Palace – birthplace of both King Henry  VIII and Queen Elizabeth 1st; then The Royal Hospital for  Seamen at Greenwich  designed by Sir Christopher Wren 1692; then becoming  the Royal Naval Staff College in 1873 whose motto is  ” By Wisdom as much as War” ; and is today leased to Greenwich University, UK.  (Photograph – courtesy of Flickr Free Images)
